Cypress is an unincorporated community in Harris County located about 25 miles northwest of downtown Houston, and it is one of the most active new construction markets in the greater Houston area. Master-planned communities including Bridgeland, Towne Lake, Marvida, and Dunham Pointe are either actively building or recently completed, generating a sustained pipeline of new residential plumbing work. The area's housing stock also includes established subdivisions from the 1990s and early 2000s along Cypress-Fairbanks corridors where original plumbing systems are now reaching the age where water heaters, supply lines, and sewer connections begin to need attention. Cypress sits on the same expansive clay soil formation that runs throughout Harris County, meaning underground sewer and water lines in older sections face the same soil-movement stress that affects homes across the Houston metro.
